Kokila Vrat is a traditional Hindu fasting ritual observed by married women for the well-being and longevity of their husbands. This vrat is dedicated to Goddess Kokila, who is believed to bless the devotees with a happy and prosperous married life. Women wake up before sunrise, take a bath, and offer prayers to Goddess Kokila while observing complete fast throughout the day.
The fast is broken only after sighting and worshiping a pair of Kokilas (cuckoo birds) at sunset. It is believed that observing Kokila Vrat with devotion and sincerity can help in removing obstacles in marital life and bring happiness and harmony in the family. The day is spent in reciting prayers, performing rituals, and singing hymns in praise of Goddess Kokila.
