Kartik Purnima, also known as Dev Diwali, is a Hindu festival celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Kartik. It is believed that on this day, Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurasura and therefore, devotees light lamps to celebrate the victory of good over evil. The festival is also associated with the Kartik Snan, a holy dip in the river Ganges to wash away sins and attain moksha.
During Kartik Purnima, devotees wake up early, take a holy dip in the Ganges, and offer prayers to Lord Shiva and other deities. The festival is marked by the lighting of lamps, diyas, and incense sticks in temples and homes as a symbol of illumination and prosperity. The day is also considered auspicious for performing charity, feeding the poor, and seeking blessings for the well-being of family and loved ones.
On this special day, devotees also participate in religious processions, visit temples, and engage in devotional music and dance performances. The festival of Kartik Purnima is not only a time for spiritual renewal and reflection but also a time for expressing gratitude and spreading love and harmony. The festive atmosphere is heightened by the colorful decorations, traditional attire, and delicious feasts enjoyed with family and friends.
